Privacy Policy

1. About this website
FileMorning is currently a personal, non-commercial project that provides browser-based file processing tools.
We aim to limit the collection of personal information and keep file processing on the user’s device whenever possible.
For information about the website publisher and hosting provider, please see our Legal Notice.
2. File processing and local storage
Available file-processing tools are designed to process your files locally in your browser, without routinely uploading them to a FileMorning conversion server.
Some tools may temporarily store selected files and related information using browser storage, including IndexedDB and session storage, to support navigation and restore your working selection.
You can remove files using the website’s controls or clear stored website data through your browser settings.
Files stored in your browser may remain there until you remove them, your browser clears them or the storage is otherwise deleted.
We recommend avoiding confidential files on shared computers and keeping original copies until you have verified the results.
3. Anonymous contact and problem reports
Our Contact page provides a form for reporting problems, asking questions and suggesting improvements.
The form does not request:
- Your name or email address
- Your postal address or telephone number
- Screenshots or file attachments
You may provide technical details such as the tool name, browser, operating system, input and output formats, a short description, steps to reproduce a problem and any error message displayed.
When a report is submitted, its content is transmitted through Cloudflare Pages Functions and Resend to the website operator’s receiving mailbox.
Our application does not intentionally add your IP address to these messages and does not maintain a separate database of submitted reports.
However, text fields may contain personal information if you choose to enter it. Please do not include names, passwords, access tokens, private file contents or other confidential information.
As reports are anonymous, we cannot reply individually to their senders.
4. IP addresses and technical information
When you access FileMorning, your browser communicates with the website’s hosting infrastructure.
Cloudflare and other infrastructure providers may process technical information, including IP addresses, to deliver the website, provide security and maintain the service.
FileMorning does not intentionally record visitors’ IP addresses in its contact application or include them in the reports received by the website operator.
This does not mean that IP addresses are never processed or retained by infrastructure providers.
5. External services
Depending on the tool you use, your browser may download fonts, JavaScript libraries, WebAssembly components or machine-learning models from external providers.
These may include Cloudflare, Google Fonts, cdnjs, jsDelivr and Hugging Face.
When you use the From URL feature, your browser attempts to retrieve the file from the external address you provide. The remote server may receive technical information associated with that request.
Cloudflare Turnstile is used to help prevent automated submissions. The application validates the Turnstile response without deliberately sending your IP address in the optional remoteip field.
Report messages are delivered through Resend and forwarded to a receiving Gmail mailbox. These providers process the message and related delivery information to provide their services.
External services may process technical information according to their own privacy policies.
6. Purposes and legal basis
Technical information may be processed to deliver the website, maintain its security and ensure reliable operation.
Information voluntarily submitted through the contact form is used to investigate problems, consider improvements and review questions.
Where applicable, the website operator relies on legitimate interests in maintaining, securing and improving the service, subject to the requirements of applicable data protection law.
7. Data retention and recipients
Files stored locally in your browser remain under the control of your browser and device.
Contact messages are not stored in a separate FileMorning application database. However, they are delivered to a receiving mailbox and may be processed or retained by the email service provider.
Contact message retention: Reports are kept for as long as needed to review the request, investigate the issue and document any necessary follow-up. The retention period is determined by whether the report remains unresolved, whether it is relevant to a recurring problem, and whether an applicable legal obligation requires longer retention. Messages that are no longer needed for these purposes are deleted following review of the receiving mailbox. This does not control any separate technical or delivery-record retention by email or infrastructure providers.
Infrastructure providers may also retain technical information under their applicable service arrangements.
Depending on the features used, data recipients may include Cloudflare, Resend, Google (Gmail) and providers of externally loaded website resources.
Any applicable international data transfers and their safeguards must be assessed according to the services actually used.
8. Cookies and similar technologies
FileMorning uses browser storage for certain functional features, including file selection and navigation.
The website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to monitor website traffic and performance. Cloudflare may process technical data relating to page requests and visits under its applicable privacy practices. This analytics feature is not intended to read the contents of files you process in your browser.
We do not currently use advertising tracking on the website. If additional non-essential analytics, advertising or similar technologies are introduced, we will update this policy and implement any legally required consent mechanism.
External services may also use technologies governed by their own privacy practices.
9. Your privacy rights
Where applicable under data protection law, you may have rights to access, rectify or erase personal information, restrict certain processing activities or object to processing.
You may also lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority, the CNIL.
Privacy rights contact: [email protected]
The anonymous reporting form can be used to raise privacy concerns, but it cannot support individual replies or identity verification.
10. Updates to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the website’s features, service providers or data-processing practices change.
The latest version will be published on this page with an updated revision date.
